AI relationship coaching: what to expect and what to question
AI relationship coaching can offer questions, reflections, and ideas based on the information you provide. It can be useful when you want to organise your thoughts or consider a different perspective. The important part is understanding its limits: an AI response is not proof of what another person thinks, a diagnosis, or a decision you must follow.
Expect questions before conclusions
A short description rarely captures a whole relationship. Useful reflection begins by exploring the situation, what matters to you, and what you would like to understand.
In Relvi, guided sessions help build context gradually. Early reflections may be tentative because the available information is limited. Adding context can help, but it does not make an AI interpretation certain. You can disagree with an interpretation and decide that a suggestion does not fit.
Keep observations separate from assumptions
An AI tool only works with the context available to it. It cannot independently verify a story or know the intentions of someone who has not expressed them.
For example, “We have talked less this week” is an observation. “They no longer care about me” is an interpretation. A useful prompt might ask what else could explain the change and what you want to ask the other person directly.
Avoid using AI output as evidence to win an argument. Treat it as a possible question or perspective to explore.
Understand the difference between private and shared
Before submitting personal information, read the product’s privacy information and consider whether the detail is needed. Avoid entering passwords, financial credentials, or identifying information about other people that is unnecessary for reflection.
Relvi distinguishes private reflections from shared relationship insights. Shared snapshot generation requires both partners’ consent and uses the responses they select for that purpose. A private reflection should not be treated as something your partner automatically receives.
Consent to share selected responses does not mean you have to disclose every thought. Review the choices on the consent screen carefully, and use the privacy and account controls if your needs change.
Use suggestions as experiments
A suggestion such as asking a clearer question or planning a short check-in can be tried and reviewed. Choose something appropriate for your situation that respects both people’s boundaries.
Relvi’s growth plans organise practical next steps, but the plan is not a score of your worth or a prediction of the relationship’s future. You decide whether an action is useful, feasible, and safe.
Know when to seek human support
Relvi is an AI reflection and coaching tool for adults. It is not a therapist, medical service, or emergency service. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for a particular situation.
If you need diagnosis, treatment, or specialised support, speak with a qualified professional. If there is abuse, coercion, or immediate danger, prioritise safety and contact appropriate local support or emergency services. An AI conversation should not delay that help.
Start with a question you can evaluate
A useful first question might be: “What would I like to understand before my next conversation?” Give enough context to explore it, then read the response critically.
You can begin guided reflection on the Relvi website. Take your time, share thoughtfully, and keep your own judgment at the centre of the process.
